Zebras aiming to shoo away the Hornets

League leaders PHC Zebras host Dandy Town at Southampton Oval tomorrow in what will be the third meeting between the two Premier Division rivals inside a month.

Zebras remain unbeaten at home so far this season and with Dudley Eve champions North Village breathing down their necks will undoubtedly look to maintain winning ways against a Hornets side also in contention for league honours at this stage of the season.

Only three-points separate PHC from fourth-placed Hornets who inflicted a first defeat on Kyle Lightbourne's team in all competitions last month at St. John's Field.

Zebras, however, avenged that loss in the Dudley Eve and will now look to get their league campaign back on track in hopes of landing a first Premier Division title in eight years.

But their task may not be an easy one against a Town outfit that have already proven they can be a handful on their day.

Elsewhere, whipping boys Ireland Rangers could feel the backlash of Devonshire Cougars' failed Dudley Eve bid when the two rivals meet at Malabar.

The Big Cats could show up without inspirational skipper Kwame Steede, who is nursing an ankle injury, while midfielder Omar Butterfield and forward Kor Von Tucker are also walking among the wounded these days.

But even a tamed Cougars should prove too powerful for a Rangers team destined to make a speedy return to First Division football.

At BAA Field, Boulevard host struggling Somerset Trojans in a match that could go either way while at nearby Bernard Park Village face a ticklish home encounter against a Devonshire Colts side in need of vital points to steer well clear of the relegation zone.

Rams, who have their sights on a fourth league title in seven seasons, were bolstered over the holiday period by an influx of college kids. But it will be interesting to see how they cope against Colts without them.

Rams midfielder Sammy Degraff is currently nursing injury and as such remains doubtful for tomorrow's encounter in the marsh.

In weekend First Division play, rejuvenated Wolves travel to Wellington Oval to take on St. George's Colts while across the harbour free-falling Hamilton Parish - who have dropped six valuable points in the flinch of an eye - will look to bounce back when they host fellow promotion hopefuls Somerset Eagles at Lords.

St. David's and X Roads, two other clubs in the hunt for league and promotion honors, should come away victorious over Social Club and Prospect United. Warriors take on Bluebirds at Lords in the featured match of a double header, X Roads - another team that has come on in leaps and bounds lately - are pitted against Prospect United at Garrison Field, while cellar dwellers BAA and Paget square off at BAA Field.
