Andre Nisbett was advised of the association's position on probationary employees. "The only further thing we will be doing is simply writing off to Personnel Services to suggest perhaps that persons going into these positions be fully acquainted with what is expected of them,'' Mr. Emery told The Royal Gazette .

Mr. Nisbett was dismissed during his probationary term in July after Governor Lord Waddington expressed unhappiness with his performance during the Royal Visit in March.

Mr. Nisbett, a black Bermudian, complained he was told he did not "look like a butler''. He said he felt racism was behind the dismissal.

Lord Waddington said it was his decision to replace the former English butler with a Bermudian, and Mr. Nisbett's claim did not make sense.

It is understood that Government House has hired a black Bermudian butler to replace Mr. Nisbett.
