Noordam makes call in Dockyard

The massive Holland America Line Noordam towers over the buildings behind King's Port, Ireland Island North yesterday. The Noordam arrived Monday with 1,840 tourists and 800 crew from New York and departs tomorrow. The mega cruise ship is 935 feet long and 105 feet wide.

The cruise ship Noordam sailed into Bermuda on Monday, berthing at Dockyard with 1,840 passengers on board as the cruise season got underway.

The 935-foot-long mega-ship sailed from New York and will return there tomorrow. She is due to sail at 4 p.m.

She will return on April 7 for a one-day visit before sailing on to Fnchal, Madeira.

Cargo vessel Somers Isles pulled into the Island on Monday morning from Florida carrying 144 containers including three refrigerated ones.

It had miscellaneous cargo which included two boats and one truck.

Meanwhile Bermuda Islander is expected to arrive in Bermuda tomorrow morning and it will bring 152 containers including 22 refrigerated ones.

On Saturday, vessel the Sider Blu sailed into the Island to undergo repairs. It was last anchored at Murray's Anchorage and its departure time frame was not known as of yesterday.

Also, Oleander, on its weekly voyage from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, arrived Monday, carrying 164 dry containers and 48 refrigerated ones.

It also hauled in ten cars, two trucks, three boats, one mafi, eight road trailers, two excavators and one skid loader.
