Cyclists injured in two accidents
Two motorcyclists were taken to hospital after separate road accidents on Saturday. Police were called to the first reported collision on Harrington Sound Road, Smith's, near the junction with Middle Road, around 7.25 a.m.
According to a spokesman, a car was travelling west on Harrington Sound Road and a rental cycle was heading in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided.
The rider of the rental cycle, a 25-year-old Pembroke man, sustained a dislocated hip and abrasions to his face and body. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but discharged after treatment.
The driver of the car, a 35-year-old Pembroke man, was not injured. The car and bike were both extensively damaged.
Officers were called to the second collision on Harbour Road, Paget, near the junction with Salt Kettle Lane, at 4:30 p.m.
Police say a car was travelling west on Harbour Road and a motorcycle was travelling in the opposite direction when the rider of the motorcycle overtook a car also travelling east, resulting in the collision. The rider of the motorcycle, a 30-year- old Pembroke man, was taken to the hospital. According to a KEMH spokeswoman, he was on a general ward and in a stable condition last night.
The driver of the westbound car, a 57-year-old Warwick man, was not injured.
