Doabledirect launches online business directory
A new website is promising customers a window to the Island's businesses and services.
Doabledirect.com, owned and operated by entrepreneur Jamel Bailey, was launched recently to provide a "convenient and functional" means for customers and businesses to connect.
Explaining the layout of his site, Mr. Bailey said it was designed so that users could find a business according to a specific need, or by name through a search tool.
"With categories, sub-categories, and extensions to list the different types of services in each, the array of business listings is comprehensive and ensures complete coverage," explained Mr. Bailey, who holds a degree in business and marketing.
This means a customer looking for boat-related services can browse through sub-categories for businesses that provide services like mooring, repair and upholstery — or whatever they happen to be looking for.
Businesses listed on the site can also avoid a traditional pitfall of directory services: alphabetical decision-making. The site's database is randomised, so the order of businesses in each category are rotated regularly.
"This way the title of the business will have little or no effect on the choice of the customer whether your business name begins with a 'z' or an 'a'," explained Mr. Bailey, who has been working on the website for almost three years.
Each listing on Doabledirect.com provides essential details such as a company address, a 500-word description, contact information and hours of operation. A monthly subscription is $45 a month, with the first month free for new businesses.
