Japan, France and the US all feature as jurisdictions for the top three global insurers, according to a table by AM Best Co.

The ratings agency ranked Japan Post Insurance Co. Ltd. of Japan number one, with $1.1 trillion in non-banking assets, followed by AXA SA of France, with $896 billion, and American International Group of the US in third with $860.4 billion.

Completing the top five are Allianz Societas Europaea of Germany, with $744.7 billion, and Assicurazioni Generali SpA of Italy with $541.2 billion.
