Coopers visit morgue; pair still not identified
Police have yet to officially identify the two bodies found at Abbot?s Cliff as the missing Cooper twins ? but understands the family?s worst fears have been realised.
Yesterday the Cooper family finally got to view the bodies ? a procedure only done when a positive identification has been been made.
A detailed autopsy was performed under the direction of Valerie Rao while an additional forensic expert was due in yesterday to assist the investigation team at the weekend.
Last night King Edward Memorial VII Hospital CEO Joan Dillas-Wright denied there was a disturbance at the morgue after the bodies were taken there after finally being removed from the cliff face on Thursday evening. She told : ?Ms Cooper came to the hospital this morning and requested to view the bodies that were brought in.? Several family members had gone to the morgue on Thursday night but hospital officials refused to let them view the bodies until the right staff could be on hand to assist.
The 20-year-old Cooper twins ? Jahmel and Jahmil ? were last seen more than a month ago getting into a jeep at the junction of Court Street and Elliott Street in Pembroke in the early hours.
Police believe they were held at a house in Devonshire and repeatedly assaulted before being moved just as Police were about to pounce. Arsonists later attacked the Crown Hill home where forensics experts had been gathering evidence from blood spills in the storage room. Two men have been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on the twins.
