Mr. John Collis said his boat, called Mutiny , was capsized and waterlogged when he went to see it around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

He said he went to check on the boat around 8 a.m. to make sure that everything was all right.

At that time the boat was sitting peacefully in the waters off Foot of The Lane where he has kept the boat for the last two years.

"It is normally one of the calmest mooring points in Bermuda,'' he explained.

"The Horizon came in around 9 a.m. and created a huge surge of water that washed right over my boat and it sunk.'' Mr. Collis said he did not see the incident take place, but he received a phone call from the Marine Police and they told him that his boat had been damaged.

"I was surprised and disappointed but I went down immediately to see it around 10 a.m. My boat was upside down and completely swamped by this wave which had washed it until it turned over.

"I haven't really been able to asses the damage because yesterday was a public holiday,'' Mr. Collis continued. "But the first thing I have to do is get the boat righted and pumped out.

"The engine was completely under the water so I know there will be engine damage.

"I am not in a position yet to blame anyone at the moment, but if the Horizon was coming into the harbour too fast then this whole incident is unfortunate because they should have abided by the rules.'' When The Royal Gazette contacted the Wor. Henry Hayward, president of Meyer Agencies -- the local agents for the Horizon -- he said he had heard nothing about the incident and would investigate the matter today.

Last week the Horizon was in the news after a broken ventilator fan caused close to 100 passengers to be taken off after fumes from the engine room made some of them ill.
