Kids ready for schools quiz
14th annual High Schools Quiz competition.
School computers, cruise ship luncheons, shield trophies, commemorative coins, and books are just a few of the awards available.
Brenton Roberts, Director of Youth and Sports, said some 50 students from seven of the Island's middle and high schools would take part this year.
Each of the teams have each been given roughly 1,400 facts about Bermudian history, culture and current events.
Last year a controversy surrounding missing pages of preparation questions tarnished the event's image.
But Mr. Roberts said the Department had since taken extra precautions to ensure such mistakes were not repeated.
"That will never happen again because it's produced differently,'' he said.
Mr. Roberts also noted that this year's contestants showed the highest number of first-time participants ever.
On Friday the students voted to have the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as the charity recipient for the final competition on Saturday at the Hamilton Princess.
