CD&P donates $3,000 to autism charity
The Staff Benevolent Fund of Conyers Dill & Pearman has given its support to the Bermuda Autism Support & Education Society (BASE) by donating $3,000 to the charity.
Tricia Crow, president of BASE, on accepting the funds said: "On behalf of many grateful members and clients of our organisation, thank you."
Ken Siggins, chairman of the committee that oversees the fund, said: "It's with a glad heart that we support BASE.
"Autism is something that is perhaps not as well known about in Bermuda as it should be. We hope this donation helps to not only support them but draw attention to their organisation as well."
Autism is a developmental disorder of the brain and people with autism have problems communicating and interacting socially with other people. They also may have unusual patterns of behaviour, interests and activities.
The funds are helping to cover the cost of a four day workshop being put on by BASE for the families of autistic children.
The workshop and seminars run from May 31 through June 3. For more information please contact Tricia Crow on 535-7277 or by e-mail: basebdayahoo.com
