The culprit apparently climbed through an insecure bedroom window at the Studio Lane residence and searched the room before leaving empty-handed, Police said.

The occupant of the room, a young boy, awoke to find a set of dentures at the foot of his bed.

They were seized by Police to help in the investigation.

PEMBROKE MAN FINED FOR TRESPASSING CTS A 32-year-old Pembroke man was fined $250 in Magistrates' Court this week for trespassing.

Eldon W. Tankard of Marsh Folly Road pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecuting Sgt. Wilburt McLean told the court that on November 5 Police found Tankard standing in an alley between the Hardey Buildings which are situated around the Royal Naval field.

" There were "No Loitering'' signs around the property,'' Sgt. McLean said.

"After being questioned by Police Tankard said he did not know that he was not able to walk in that area.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Tankard $250.

GAS PRICES WILL GO DOWN THIS WEEK EGY Gas prices will fall this week after an announcement by the Minister of Finance the Hon. Dr. David Saul.

Dr. Saul announced a decrease of 1.3 cents per litre for gas, one cent a litre for diesel and 0.4 cents a litre for kerosene.

FRANCIS ORDERS A SOCIAL INQUIRY REPORT CTS A 42-year-old man was remanded in custody yesterday after the Senior Magistrate changed his mind and ordered a social inquiry report.

Originally the Wor. Will Francis ordered John Samuel Paynter to pay a $300 fine or spend 30 days in jail for assaulting a Police officer, violently resisting arrest and using offensive words November 15.

Paynter replied that he would rather go to Casemates because he was unable to pay the fine.

The events leading up to his arrest revolved around a domestic dispute involving Paynter at a home on Sofar Drive in St. George's. Police were called. When they tried to arrest him, Paynter swore at Police and ripped the officer's tie from his neck.

"After reviewing what I have heard here,'' Mr. Francis said "I would like to have a social inquiry report before I decide what I want to do.'' MAN HIT OVER THE HEAD AFTER ARGUMENT CRM A St. George's man was hit over the head with a piece of wood during a fight over a debt on Tuesday morning.

The 33-year-old received stitches at the hospital and was later released.

Police said the man had been in heated argument with another man when they arrived at Market Wharf in St. George's. A 21-year-old St. George's man was arrested in connection with the incident.

DEAD CATS FOUND NEAR LUNCH CART ALS Cats which have mysteriously been found dead in a vacant parking lot have been causing a bad smell near a lunch cart.

The owners of Keith's Kitchen lunch cart on Victoria Street found a dead black cat, in a box, early this week.

Mr. Keith DeSilva, owner of the cart said it was the second cat to be found.

"When I found the cat the box was covered up and people had been complaining about the smell,'' Mr. DeSilva said.

"Last week I found a dead kitten in the area and I think it's sad that people are killing their cats and abandoning them in vacant parking lots. It's disgusting.'' THIEVES BREAK INTO HONDA MOTORS CRM Thieves helped themselves to gas and oil after forcing their way into Honda Motors showroom at Mill's Creek on Monday night, Police reported.

They apparently rode away on a Honda scrambler motorbike. It was described as being larger than an average bike and fluorescent red and white in colour.

YOUTH ADMITS STEALING YAMAHA CYCLE CTS A Hamilton Parish youth, who pleaded guilty to four dishonest acts all committed while he was on probation for another offence, was bailed pending the outcome of a social inquiry report.

Kevin Carter of Harlem Heights, said he helped to steal a Yamaha V 50 on March 18. While at the Police Cycle Squad on another matter he was questioned about the cycle, and he admitted stealing it.

On March 25, Carter told Police his auxiliary cycle was stolen from his house.

Later that same day Police stopped two men on the cycle that was later impounded. Carter admitted later that the bike was not stolen and that he only reported it stolen because he knew it had a stolen engine.

He invited officers to his house on another matter and they noticed a catapult that they later seized.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered Carter to meet with an officer from Probation Services before he dealt with the matter. He ordered Carter to reappear for sentence December 8.

TOOLS STOLEN FROM UNATTENDED VAN CRM Thieves stole $800 worth of tools from an unattended van parked in the Softball Stadium car park in Pembroke.

The owner had his left van around 7 p.m. on Monday evening but omitted to lock the back doors. He returned several hours later to discover the tools missing.

Detectives are also investigating a break in at the Burrows Lightbourn liquor store on Front Street.

Community relations officer P.c. Gary Venning said: "Considerable damage was caused to a door in gaining access and the thieves are believed to have escaped with the days takings.

"Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area, particularly around Fagan's Alley during late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning can contact Central C.I.D.'' A thief, described as "brazen'' by Police, searched the downstairs of a house in Tucker's Town Road while the owner slept upstairs.

He had entered through an insecure window and escaped with around $180 in cash.

AA WILL HOLD A SOBERING WEEKEND CON Alcoholics Anonymous will be holding a sobering weekend for its annual convention at the end of November.

The Bermuda Chapter of AA will have two dynamic Californian speakers, Clancy I. and Francine W. addressing its members and those of Al-Anon and Al-Ateen fellowships, at the Hamilton Princess Hotel from Friday November 26 to Sunday November 28.

Some 60 visitors from the United States and Canada are flying in to support local members.

A spokesperson said: "Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

"The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees, they are self supporting through their own contributions.

"Alcoholics Anonymous' primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.'' There are now 28 AA meetings in Bermuda. This year, five additional meetings were added to the local calendar. These meetings are held at 5.30 p.m. at St.

Paul's Church in Paget.
