?I want to give strength to other women?

?I am relieved that justice has been served today for everything he put me through for the past two and a half years,? said the 24-year-old victim of serious sexual assault and unlawful wounding.

The victim and her family cried tears of joy after the defendant, Rohan (Junior) Rockion Richards was found guilty of six of seven counts.

?He terrorised me for months and I feel relieved that he will be put behind bars because he can?t do this to anyone else,? she said of her ex-boyfriend.

The victim and her current husband were in Supreme Court everyday to await the verdict.

Her parents also attended to give a testimony to the jury and support to their daughter.

While on the stand, the victim was patient even though she was forced to read explicit letters from the defendant during his first few months of incarceration ? in front of her husband.

She was able to tell the jury her story with only a few tears.

The victim did become agitated with a few questions put to her by defence lawyer Shade Subair but maintained her cool.

?I want to give strength to other women who are being raped and abused by their controlling boyfriends to come forward,? she said. ?I feel blessed, like a weight has been lifted off of me.?

The victim also thanked her prosecution team, Carrington Mahoney and Oonagh Vaucrosson for doing a good job.

She also said that people have said bad things about the Director of Public Prosecutors but she felt that they were doing their jobs properly. She said that she wanted the defendant, Richards, named so that everyone would know what he had done to her.

When asked if she had a comment for Richards she said that she had absolutely nothing to say to him ? he had hurt her and her family enough. She said that he had put her on an ?emotional roller-coaster? and she was glad that it was all over.
