A litany of wides (29) by the visitors from just 27 overs while attempting to protect 131 allowed the home side to scrape through.

The bat of Dennis Archer likewise aided the home cause as the policeman knocked up an unbeaten half century, stroking 55.

Andrew Rollins (15) and Freston Hurdle (12) were the only others in double figures as Neil Anglin enjoyed a productive spell with the new ball for PHC, racking up four for 37 in a tidy 10 over spell, but the others were all too expensive.

Earlier, Cal Symons helped PHC to their total with 41 while Andre Manders was next high on 21.

Hurdle took four for 22, Archer three for 28, and Phillip Bailey two for 29 for the home side.

Somerset made easy work of nearby neighbours Somerset Bridge, defeating the latter by seven wickets at Somerset Cricket Club.

A well played 49 not out from opener Sheridan Ming guided the home side to triumph, he and captain Wendell White (31) engaging in a match-winning 68-run third wicket partnership.

Bridge were earlier dismissed for the small total as the home side bowlers shared wickets between them, Jacobi Robinson, White, Leon Place and Ming taking two apiece.

Corvett Lambert top scored for Bridge with an unbeaten 30, while skipper Denzil Dill was next high on 24.

Cup Match hero Janeiro Tucker, batting well down the order, top scored with 47, Rohaan Simons added 39, while youngsters Kerry Tucker (19), Melekie Jones (10) and Jason Wade (24) showed that they are not far away from spending more time in the big league.

Mark Durham was the top wicket taker for Social with three for 30, while Jaymo Durham, L.Furbert and L.Talbot each took two wickets.

Gary Williams top scored for Social with a hard earned 31, while Danish contributed 23.

Ryan Belboda seized a remarkable five wicket haul, each coming via an lbw decision from umpire Rudolph Burrows.
