Bermuda is changing

January 23, 2008

Dear Sir,

I've been vacationing in Bermuda since July of '64, staying at the Hamilton Princess months after their grand reopening for $35 a night!

We invited our family down for my 60th birthday in '04 which was my 30th trip down to your beautiful Island.

Whether we're down there for our birthdays in October, anniversary in May or any other reason I can think of, we pick up The Royal Gazette and read how "tourism is down, what can be done?"

Bermuda is some 750 miles from Boston and yet, it costs more than a flight to London. Do you think this could possibly be the reason? Get the flight fares down and "they will come"...

Our last trip was in '05 and it was so sad to see that Trimingham's and Smith's had closed. I would walk into Hamilton every day shopping ... I took photos of the signs. I have no intention of returning until shopping returns to Front St. ¿ and not "high-end, boutique stores" ... so I may never return.

But I do read The Gazette faithfully everyday with hopes high
