The forum, covering the Companies Amendment Act 1995, the Exempted Partnerships Amendment Act 1995, the Limited Partnerships Amendment Act 1995 and the Overseas Partnerships Act 1995 gets underway at 8:45 a.m. with refreshments served at 8:15 a.m.
Time has been allotted for questions as well, said BIBA.
JOINT WINNER AWD Joint winner The Bermuda Local Centre of the Chartered Institute of Bankers has won the Institute's "Local Centre of the Year.'' Bermuda is a joint winner with the Cambridge centre in the UK. This is the first year for the award.
The competition for the award is open to all local centres of the institute and points are awarded for such items as programme content, attendance, publicity, participation in local centre competitions and assisting with tuition in the local area.
Both centres are to receive 1,000 to put toward the cost of running one or more prestigious events in their future programmes.
Ms Beth Vesey, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, and past president of the Bermuda Local Centre said she was delighted with the news, particularly since the centre was just formed in 1991.
REVERSE SHARE SPLIT BUC Reverse share split British American Holdings, Ltd. (BAH), parent of Bermuda company British American Insurance Company Ltd., will proceed with a reverse share split, reports Bloomberg business news.
The previously announced one for 2,500 share split was effective August 24.
Under the terms of the split, each shareholder of record at May 22 receives one new BAH share, par value $25, for every 2,500 old BAH shares, par value one cent, held by the shareholder on the record date.
Fractional shares are being repurchased by the company from shareholders who opted for cash instead of shares.
