Jet-setting 27-year-old Amir, whose image has appeared in dozens of magazines, has been based in South Africa for the last three years and in that time has travelled extensively.

He has also built up a strong collection of art from various countries, including Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi.

"Some people think that, because you're in the entertainment industry you're sort of untouchable but I just see myself as an everyday person,'' Amir said.

"The only way we can enlighten ourselves is to go away and live someone else's experiences and come back and live our own and appreciate our own.

The exhibition, at the Edinburgh Gallery, will open on Friday and run until December 12.
