Sunday, winning all but one outing during the seven-race series held off Spanish Point Boat Club.

Excellent starts combined with superior upwind speed all worked in favour of Smith, the reigning Sunfish world champion.

Christian Luthi was the only rival to beat Smith on the day, pushing the latter back to second by only inches in the fourth heat.

Luthi eventually placed second overall after duelling with Brett Wright for the better part of the day. Wright wound up third overall.

The final day of racing in the Junior Optimist Series took place on Sunday in moderate breezes.

Alexander Kirkland made a strong showing on the day with three first place finishes, while Alexandria Crane managed two firsts, but had her day spoiled by a capsize during the opening encounter.

However, stealing the show was Alexander Lines, who garnered just a single first place finish but was a model of consistency, emerging as the champion with 503 points compared to 513 for Crane and 62 for Kirkland.
