Luxury yachts grace local ports

It is scheduled to depart for Jacksonville, Florida, in six weeks.

And at the Hamilton Princess wharf, the 110-foot Maldine arrived on April 24 from the Virgin Islands. The Maldine will depart in five weeks.

In shipping news, a spokesman from Meyer Agencies said the Bermuda Islander arrived on Monday with 98 containers. The total included 11 refrigerated and two livestock containers holding five cows and four horses.

The Bermuda Islander returned to Salem, New Jersey on Tuesday.

And the Somers Isles also arrived on Monday with 87 containers. Included are nine refrigerated, six pleasure boats and 33 bundles of lumber.

A Container Ship Management spokesperson reported the Oleander arrived on Sunday with 134 dry and 29 refrigerated containers on board.

The ship also offloaded one maffi, two trailers, 21 cars, one truck and one boat trailer before leaving on Tuesday.

And yesterday was the first visit this season for the Song of America said a John S. Darrell spokesman.

The ship arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is at the Number One Dock in Hamilton. The ship and its 1,396 passengers will leave tomorrow afternoon for New York.

And on Saturday, the Royal Viking Sun will overnight before departing on Sunday.

In other cruise news, a Meyer spokesman said high winds last week prevented the scheduled shift of the cruise ship Zenith from Hamilton to St. Georges.

Instead of making the scheduled move from the Number One Dock in Hamilton, the Zenith shifted to Hamilton commercial docks. The Zenith arrived from New York on Monday with 1,393 passengers and is scheduled to leave today.

Two other cruise vessels, the Norwegian Crown and the Horizon also arrived on Monday.

After arriving late in the evening, the Horizon waited first at Murray's Anchorage before berthing at Pink Wharf on Tuesday morning.

On board are 1,272 passengers and the ship is scheduled to leave tomorrow (FRI).

The Norwegian Crown is carrying 950 passengers and shifted from Pennos Wharf in St. Georges to Hamilton on Tuesday. She is scheduled to depart today.

And the 1,037 passengers aboard the Majesty arrived on Tuesday and will also leave tomorrow.

Two Perry Class US Navy ships will have same day refuellings and departures on Monday.

The USS Samuel B. Roberts will berth in Dockyard, while the USS Barry will anchor offshore.

And the US Coast Guard Cutter Willow will arrive on Monday for a few days of rest, relaxation and refuelling before leaving next Wednesday.
