Jetskiers rescued near Bailey's Bay
A concerned Hamilton Parish resident alerted the authorities to two stranded jetskiiers in Bailey's Bay last night.
The lady, who lives on Winton Hill Lane, called Bermuda Maritime Operations centre at 8.25 pm.
"She thought she could hear cries for help from the North Shore," explained a centre spokesman.
"There were no lights but there had been boating activity in the area. It was not clear what was being shouted but it sounded like it was for help."
The centre asked the Police to send officers to the scene.
It was later discovered that a pair of jetskiiers had got into difficulties. However, they had already been helped to the safety of Bailey's Bay public dock by a passer-by.
"They confirmed they had been on the Bay Island and they had been shouting for help," explained the spokesman, who thanked the lady who raised the alarm for her "good citizenship".
Wanted man tried to evade arrest by jumping into the sea
A man trying to evade arrest jumped in the water off of Coney Island.
On Saturday morning the Hamilton Parish man fled when Police attempted to arrest him for outstanding warrants.
He jumped in the ocean near the North Shore Road and Coney Island Road area.
Several police from different units, including the Marine Police, later apprehended the 48-year-old and arrested him for the warrants and attempting to evade arrest.
A 43 year old Hamilton Parish man was also arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.
A Police spokesman said: "A court appearance for the 48 year old Hamilton Parish man is anticipated in due course."
