A woman motorist has admitted killing a motorcyclist through dangerous driving.

Trina Doyling's car was in collision with a bike driven by 52-year-old David Santucci on the morning of November 8, 2006. She pleaded guilty to causing his death during a brief appearance at Supreme Court yesterday.

No details were given by Crown counsel Cindy Clarke, and the case was adjourned so reports can be prepared on Doyling, 38, from Cedar Hill, Warwick, before she is sentenced.

The Royal Gazette reported at the time of Mr. Santucci's death that he was involved in a collision with a turning car on Middle Road, Warwick, shortly before midday.

According to the Police, he was travelling eastwards when he was catapulted from his bike after a collision with a car coming in the opposite direction which was turning into Longford Road next to the Belmont Golf Course.

Mr. Santucci was thrown onto the road and became pinned under another car. He was rescued and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but died from his injuries.

Ms Clarke told Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves yesterday that she would not be seeking an immediate prison sentence for Doyling, and would ask for community service to be considered.

Defence lawyer Craig Attridge agreed that a non-custodial sentence would be appropriate in the circumstances, which he described as "a temporary lapse" on Doyling's part.

The judge said he was minded to impose a suspended sentence and "the idea of community service is very attractive".

He ordered a report to be prepared on Doyling, and granted her bail until a further hearing on March 3 when a sentence date will be set.

Ms Clarke indicated that she will outline the full circumstances surrounding the collision at that time, and provide the judge with a statement from Mr. Santucci's loved ones about the impact of his death.
