New Lacrosse team formed
Lacrosse is continuing to grow in popularity on the Island with a new team being formed at Bermuda High School, writes Stephen Wright.
The sporty youngsters at the all girls' school started practicing last month and are working on basic skills such as picking up ground balls, cradling and shooting.
Julie Clements, a former women's club player at Ohio State University, will coach the players, aged 10 and 11, while Bermuda Lacrosse Association (BLA) has donated a goal for them to use.
Michael Totman, president of the BLA, said: "We're excited that a new lacrosse group has started on the island, and the fact that it's a school club should help develop Bermuda's next generation of lacrosse athletes.
"Julie has a passion for the sport and she's bringing that to her players. We hope more programs develop across the island and of course we will do all we can to support them."
In July a group of local student athletes will travel to Canada to participate in the ILF boys under 19 World Championships.
The BLA is a member of the International Lacrosse Federation.
