BF&M names four new vice presidents
appointments.
Mr. John Wight has been appointed vice president, financing and accounting, Mr. Hugh O'Neill becomes vice president, information services, Mr. Ross Hillen has been named vice president of BF&M General Insurance Co. Ltd. with overall responsibility for underwriting and claims and has been appointed vice president of BF&M General Insurance Co. Ltd. with responsibility for marketing and customer service. All appointments are effective January 1, 1995.
"The appointment of Mr. Wight anticipates the retirement at mid year of Mr.
John Patterson, vice president and secretary, after 40 years service and ensures continuity in the group's finance and accounting areas,'' said Mr.
Glenn Titterton, president and CEO of BF&M. "We also recognise the critical role that new information systems and information technology will play in our future. We have therefore elevated the leadership of this area to executive level through the appointment of Mr. O'Neill.'' "Meanwhile, the importance of BF&M General Insurance is recognised in the appointments of Mr. Hillen and Mr. Gibbons. Mr. Gibbons' appointment is also a further development in the group's customer service quality programme.'' Mr. Wight, 38, a Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and graduate diploma in accountancy from Concordia University and has worked for BF&M as group controller since 1992 and previously was controller for the Bermuda Hospitals Board as well as an employee of Cooper & Lines and Clarkson Gordon.
Mr. O'Neill, CSP, 38, was educated at Sevenoaks School, Kent and Walbrook College, London, and has been with the BF&M group for 14 years, most recently as manager, information systems.
Mr. Hillen, ACII, has been with the group for 25 years, and was most recently manager, underwriting. The 44-year-old was educated at Saltus Grammar School, the Academic Sixth Form Centre, and through the Chartered Insurance Institute, becoming an associate in 1989.
Mr. Gibbons, ACII, has been with the company for almost eight years, most recently as business development manager. The 34-year-old was educated at Saltus Grammar School, Trinity College School, Ontario, and holds a BA in Economics and Accounting from Huron College, University of Waterloo, Ontario.
He became an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1984 and is currently president of the Bermuda Insurance Institute.
