Bank launches Wilkinson lawsuit
Andrew Martin, the executor of the estate of Ms Wendy Wilkinson -- the businesswoman and comedienne who died two years ago.
Also named in the action, is Ms Suzanne Barnes, a former business partner of Ms Wilkinson.
Yesterday attorney Mr. David Kessaram, from the Bermuda Commercial Bank's law firm Cox & Wilkinson, declined to comment on the writ, entered in the Supreme Court register last week.
It is understood, however, Ms Wilkinson and Ms Barnes were partners in Reid Street Trading Company Ltd, which defaulted in repaying a loan from the bank.
Ms Wilkinson and Ms Barnes were guarantors for the loan -- needed to prop up the firm's struggling Reid Street clothing store, Club Monaco.
The store, however, eventually closed because of financial difficulties.
Ms Wilkinson, 34, died on August 8, 1990 shortly after being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital suffering from abdominal pains and swelling.
A coroner's jury ruled she died from an accident "aggravated by a lack of professional care'' by medical staff.
