Share prices rise across board

Share prices rose across the board on the Bermuda Stock Exchange last week, but trading volume was light.

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange index ended Friday up 3.111 points at 2,270.62 on volume of 27,679 shares worth $279,465.30.

The major mover on the Exchange was Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd., the owner of The Royal Gazette, which gained 50 cents or 4.35 percent to close at a 52-week high of $12 on volume of 500.

Belco shares closed up 25 cents to $30.75 on volume of just 109 shares, while Bank of Butterfield inched up five cents to $33.30 on volume of 6,010 shares. Investors seeking high yields continued to push up KeyTech eight percent preference shares, which rose 25 cents to $11.50 on volume of 3,000.

The shares were issued earlier this year with a value of $10. The preference shares are not a constituent of the Index.

LOM Holdings was unchanged at $2, but saw 17,000 shares change hands.

The Bank of Bermuda closed down four cents to $33.98 in trading on Friday on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

For the week, the stock was down 67 cents from its close last Friday at $34.65.
