Jazz performer hoping to drum up interest
percussionist Eric McPherson will perform with others at Eddie Ming's 21st Drum Exhibition and Jazz Buffet Supper.
Mr. McPherson, 26, has worked with many greats, including Wayne Marsalis and Sunny Rollins. He has also studied under drum master Michael Carlton, who has performed in Bermuda and is one of the most highly-rated percussion teachers in the world.
McPherson's talent has taken him around the world with many different artists.
After leaving Bermuda, he will set off to Italy with his group "Forbidden Fruits''.
"The purpose of Eric's being here is to inspire young up and coming drummers and percussionists in Bermuda,'' said organiser Mr. Ming.
Buffet menu items at the event include stir fried shrimp, Thai coconut chicken, and vegetarian lasagna.
Tickets for the 21st Drum Exhibition and Drum Buffet Supper are available for $20 at Music Box, 27th Century Boutique and People's Pharmacy, or for $25 at the door.
Part of the proceeds will aid the family of the late Michael Fields, father to one of Mr. Ming's percussion students.
The doors at St. Paul's Centennial Hall will open at 4 p.m., and the music will follow at 5 p.m.
For further information contact Mr. Ming on 297-8422.
