The Royal Gazette revealed that Mr. Williams would be taking over the post vacated by Mr. Alwyn McKittrick, who has handed in his resignation.

Mr. Williams is a former director of tourism and was a Cabinet minister and an Independent senator, so he has the experience to run the National Trust for the time being.

The post of director will be advertised in the near future, according to president Mrs. Patsy Phillips.
