Barritt's Sportsmen's League action when they beat Sparks 18-9.

Juniors claimed the top team series and game of 2,868 and 1,026 as Dean Lightbourne and Woody Jones led them with the top series of 646 and high game of 253 respectively.

Lightbourne also rolled a 224 third high game while another Juniors player, Roger Raynor, had a 603 third high series to help the cause. Sparks had a 2,582 team series in a losing cause.

Mini Forwarders beat Young Blood 19-8 as Dudley Browne led the winners with a 605 second high series and 220 game while Chris Leverock chipped in a with a 583 series.

The two other matches saw Warwick Reds and Buy and Sell win by comfortable 21-6 margins. Randy Smith rolled the second high game of 247 to pace Reds to their win over Warwick Whites in their derby match.

Warwick Reds were second on the team game's list with a 956 while their 2,652 series was the third best for the night. Warwick Whites had a 944 third high game as comfort for their loss.

Buy and Sell put together a second high team series of 2,660 and 936 game on their way to victory over Social Club.

In Fishbowl League action, Piranhas went on the attack against the Snappers and finished the night with all four points, winning the second game by nine pins and the third by 18.

Hilton Hayward topped the men's scoring list with a 590 series and 233 game, but needed more support to put the brakes on a Piranhas feeding frenzy.

Wahoo and Angel Fish battled it out with Wahoo coming out ahead with a 3-1 victory, led by Doug Hines' second high series of 558 while Sylvia O'Connor added women's second high game of 210 and a 524 series.

David Mello, meantime, claimed second game honours with a 214. Wendy Cummings led the Angels efforts with women's second high series of 572 and top game of 212.

Cow Pollies battled their way to a 21 -11 victory over Sharks. Both teams bowled a 919 third game to split the point.

Tuna found their way to the season's series list with a 3,162 on games of 1,047, 1,041 and 1,075 for a 3-1 munching of Mackerel.

Marie Frith led the Tuna's efforts with women's top series of 576 and third game 200 while team captain Sylvia Ferreira added the women's third series high of 525.

Porgies and Hinds drew while Rockfish bounced Barracuda 3-1.

Dolphins and Marlins finished in a draw as Joe Correia led the Marlins' efforts with the men's third series of 544.

SOFTBALL SOF Bacardi stirred up the most lopsided victory of the early season in the Commercial Softball League when they battered Arthur Andersen 31-2 on Wednesday night.

The Bacardi bats were booming led by Mike Strohoffer and Dan Doyan who each delivered home runs. Strohoffer drove in five runs on four hits while Doyan drove in four with three hits.

Jim Fay slammed the door on Arthur Andersen batters earning the pitching victory, limiting a pair of runs batted in to Benji Williams and Lauren Peters.

Sandys batters were spraying the ball all over the field, too, in their victory for a 14-3 verdict over BF&M.

Ray DeSilva and Terry Corday were the batting behemoths for Sandys with seven hits between them while DeSilva ripped a four-baser. Kevin Williams and Andrew Fletcher were batting stars for BF&M.

David DeSilva was winning pitcher while Allan Winston was the loser.

In the only other match, Marsh & McLennan defeated Skandia 17-9 with Gordy Veale and Penny Moore teaming up for their hitting muscle. Veale drove in a run with two hits and scored four runs while Moore had two RBI along with two hits and scoring two runs.

Nisala Weerasooriya grabbed the pitching triumph despite being hit hard with Dave Youens and Chris Fullerton as Skandia's hitting stars. Nick Frost was the losing pitcher.
