Man accused of making threats to Barbadians
A St. George's man faces Magistrates' Court trial for uttering threatening words to Barbadian Police Officers.
Keenan Butterfield, 28, of Smith's Hill Road, St. George's pleaded not guilty to three charges in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Magistrate Edward King charged Butterfield with wilfully obstructing a Police officer while he was executing his duties on December 14, 2004 in Hamilton Parish.
He also charged him with causing wilful damage to a Police vehicle and uttering threatening words on the same day: "You guys are not Bermudians, you are Bajans and when I get out I am going to f*** you up".
Mr. King said he was not a born Bermudian, but had been here since August 30, 1972.
"Where were you then?" Mr. King asked Butterfield.
He set the trial down for March 18 and released him on $1,000 bail with one surety.
"It will be an all-Bermudian affair," Mr. King said. "With Bajan witnesses."
