Local website wins award

The Bermuda Insurance Market website - from the Bermuda Insurance Institute - has won a Best of Show award in the educational and professional category of Business Insurance's Best of the Web competition.

Business Insurance - a globally distributed, weekly insurance industry publication - features the award-winning website (www.bermuda-insurance.org) in its October 8 issue.

The website is run by a sub-committee of the Institute's marketing committee and is headed by insurance executive Sheila Nicoll.

The site was redeveloped by local advertising company RB&K. Kathryn Kelly, of RB&K, said of the site: "It is gratifying that the Bermuda Insurance Market website has been such a success - it is a testimony to the fact that websites don't have to be too complicated to be effective."

Seven criteria - including content, sophistication, design, functionality, innovation, fulfilment and user's experience - were used by 11 judges to rate the entries.

Judges reviewed some 100 entries and awards went to 11 websites.

The Best of the Web competition is in its first year and its purpose is to recognise and promote excellence in Internet-based services for corporate risk and employee benefits executives.
