Wolves take flight as Nathan buries Eagles
Wolves surged to the head of the Daihatsu Second Division based on a 7-0 roasting of Somerset Eagles at Devonshire Rec. field yesterday.
Chief destroyer was Nathan Webb, a demon in attack for the hungry Wolves, notching a double hat-trick -- six goals -- including five in the second half.
He constantly exposed the lack of pace in the visitors' defence with darting runs along the flanks and through the middle.
Mark Raynor assisted Webb with a strike early in the second half of the match, which was a close 1-0 affair at the interval.
After suffering a 4-0 hiding at the hands of BAA in their first match Wolves have scored 13 in their last two games -- both wins -- and lead Devonshire Cougars -- idle yesterday -- by virtue of superior goal difference.
Social Club 2, Prospect 5 A superb hat-trick by Terry Thomas enabled Prospect to taste victory for the first time this season at the expense of hapless Social Club.
The men in blue triumphed 5-2 as they were able to ride on the tails of two first-half scores by Thomas before adding three more in the second, with Thomas getting his last and Robert Goodchild knocking in two.
Meanwhile, Social Club found few answers and all they could muster were two consolation strikes by Melvin Bowen and Rembert Hill.
Prospect went from last to fifth with the win, one notch ahead of Social Club.
BAA 2, Hamilton Parish 0 BAA continued to prove themselves as a side to be reckoned with in defeating Hamilton Parish 2-0 at home.
Duncan Ashworth spurred them into the lead and later Paul Franco added an insurance strike.
The Green Knights stand third in the division, equal on points with Wolves and Devonshire Cougars, although the latter have a game in hand.
Paget 3, Port Royal 1 Paget received their first points with a hard-earned 3-1 victory at White Hill field over Port Royal.
Andre Simmons, Ivan Trott and Onslow Lightbourne all netted for Paget, while Michael Bean made a lone reply for Port Royal.
