Breaking News: Police investigate two suspected armed robberies
Police are today investigating two suspected armed robberies over the holiday weekend.
The first happened just before midnight on Saturday when Police received a report of a robbery on Cedar Park Road, in Devonshire.
A Police spokesman said: “It appears that around 11.40 p.m. on Saturday, a taxi was in the Cedar Park Road area to pick up a fare when the taxi driver was flagged down by an unknown woman.
“Two unknown men subsequently approached the taxi, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The suspects instructed the taxi driver to get out of the vehicle and empty his pockets. The three suspects made good their escape with a quantity of cash. The taxi driver, a 30-year-old Sandys parish man, was not injured.”
The first suspect is described as a heavy set black woman, approximately 5ft 9ins with short hair wearing what is believed to be a green sweat jacket; she is believed to be 18 to 25 years old. The second suspect is described as a skinny black man, approximately 5ft 6ins wearing dark coloured clothes; he is believed to be 17 to 25 years old. The third suspect is described as a skinny black man, approximately 5ft 7ins wearing dark coloured clothes; he is also believed to be 17 to 25 years old.
A 19-year-old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with this incident but was later released on Police bail.
Then at about 12.30 a.m. yesterday, Police attended a reported robbery on North Shore Road, in Devonshire, near the Sea View Gym.
The spokesman said: “It appears that around 12.15 a.m. the complainant, a 31-year-old Devonshire man, was standing outside his residence using his cellular phone when he was approached by three unknown men, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The suspects took the Devonshire man’s BlackBerry cellular phone and made good their escape on foot up Tribe Lane.”
The suspects are described as three young men of slim build; one wearing a white or light coloured jacket, one wearing a dark coloured T-shirt and one wearing a dark coloured leather type jacket.
