Bunny?s long hop to recovery

A Bermudian bunny was flown to Boston for live-saving surgery, the Boston Herald reported this week.

Joaquina Adderley?s pet rabbit, Peter, had been diagnosed with an abscess in his jawbone which could have killed it, if left untreated.

?My friends criticised me for doing this, but there was no way I will let him slip away,? Ms Adderley told the Herald on Sunday.

On Friday January 20, Peter had a mass removed at Angel Animal Medical Centre in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.

However, Boston veterinarian Dr. Armando Burgos said the one-year-old rabbit was expected to make a full recovery.

Ms Adderley took Peter to a Bermudian vet after noticing a lump on the bunny?s jaw while petting it.

She was told she would have to go all the way to Boston to find a specialist to perform the surgery, which could cost as much as $600, which Ms Adderley said was worth every penny.

?Peter gives me bunny kisses to wake me up,? she told the Herald. ?These things make him special.?
