Christmas season to their annual Nativity.

Heather Conyers, chair of Friends of WindReach, and activities co-ordinator Miranda Mello have an exciting evening planned for members and friends on Saturday, December 9.

This is the first year the pair has organised this signature event for WindReach Recreational Village and they are planning to make some changes.

Mrs. Mello explained that the Nativity would be a live tableau involving special needs children and a selection of animals from the Petting Zoo.

She said: "Weather permitting, we will stage the story at four locations on the property. It will be narrated by well-known broadcast journalist Bryan Darby and signed by Mimi Rankin on behalf of the Bermuda Deaf Awareness Group.

"We will progress from the Activity Centre to the sheep paddock, up through the Sensory Trail and finally to the stables at the Petting Zoo. "We are fortunate to have our own animal stars! Eyeore, our donkey of course, will help to lead the procession and be joined by Peggy and Lambchop our sheep, as well as other barnyard pals. Members of the Cathedral Boys' Choir, directed by Dr. Gary Burgess will lead the singing.'' Mrs. Conyers added: "`The performance will conclude with a WindReach adaption of the `Night Before Christmas'. We will then declare the Christmas Market open in the Activity Centre. This, too, is a new twist to our event.

"It will include a craft stall, a homemade bake stall and a gift corner. We also hope to welcome a seasonal visitor and will have a Polaroid camera at the ready!'' The Nativity and Christmas Market is by invitation and open to members of Friends of WindReach.

Membership details are available from Lisa Lorhan at WindReach Recreational Village 238-2469.

Funds raised by Friends of WindReach support the operation of the Warwick facility, which is dedicated to persons of all ages with disabilities and special needs in Bermuda.
