Defending champions Kavin Smith and Jane Christie are both expected to be at the starting line for Sunday morning's second annual BPSA 10K road race.

The event, sponsored by Continental Motors, begins outside the BPSA building on Angle Street at 9.00 with runners heading east to Court Street and turning right to Front Street.

They then leave the city via Crow Lane and continue to the south roundabout, east along South Road to Brighton Hill and onto Middle Road where they turn west and enter Barker's Hill and onto North Shore through Black Watch Pass.

The route continues through Dutton Avenue to the finish line on Ewing Street opposite Dellwood School.

The course is the same as last year, providing a good test of strategy and endurance since it places Brighton and Barker's Hills in the middle of the run.

Swan's Running Club are the race organisers and Philip Guishard the race director.

Entry forms can be picked up at the various sports outlets in Hamilton and must be returned by this afternoon.
