Talbot like his chances
World One-Arm Championships in England and is already making up for last year's disappointing performance.
Talbot, who won the championship in 1988 in England and 1991 in Ireland, got off to a good start by finishing second on Wednesday when he posted a two-round total of 167 (86, 81), trailing only American Mike Bennett who scored a 161 in the two rounds.
Yesterday Talbot won both his matches, finishing three-up in the first and then six-up in the second. He defeated Larry Crawford of Ireland in the first match and then disposed of John Kant of England in the second.
Talbot has now qualified for today's semifinals and is brimming with confidence after the first two days of the competition.
"If I play tomorrow (Friday) like I did today I'll be great,'' said Talbot, playing the event at the Seaford Golf Club just outside of Brighton. "I was four-over par after 13 holes and the only mistake I made was a lost ball in the woods on the 11th hole.'' Talbot said his putting was the key to his fine play and also credited the assistance of his caddy who helped him decipher the difficult greens. He will face Olivier LeCoco of France today.
Last year Talbot was eliminated in the first round by Dave Parsons after setting a record qualifying score of 151 (74, 77) for the two rounds.
The tournament ends today and Talbot is hoping to bring home his third title.
For the past three years his trips to Britain for the championships have been made possible by generous sponsorships.
