Works and Engineering Minister C.V. (Jim) Woolridge said last night that almost 250 containers of asbestos were at the quarry.

He added: "We are waiting for the Environment Minister to decide the best way to dispose of it.

"In the meantime, the quarry is convenient and has plenty of room. As soon as we know what to do with them, we will release them.'' Environment Minister Irving Pearman said that no decision on what to do with the containers had been made.
