Marchers to hit the road for a better community

Gena Spence Production is recognising the need to bring all segments of the community together with the first ever "Community Peace Walk 98.'' This very special event will take place on Saturday, May 9, starting and ending at Victor Scott School from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Organiser Gena Spence said the objective of the walk is to show that "we believe our community needs to see where the violence, drugs and pressure areas are in our community.'' She added: "We also believe that the street people in the community can come together to voice their concerns.

"And we firmly believe that if the community and the street people come together for listening, laughter and love this will be a step to assist in the lack of communication within the community.'' The walk route will start at Victor Scott, Glebe Road, Palmetto Road to St.

Monica's Mission, 42nd Street, Friswell's Hill, Parson's Road, Deepdale, Happy Valley Road, Curving Avenue (White Wall) and back to Victor Scott School.

"After the walk we will be hosting a time of entertainment and fellowship with the community and street people. There will be food and fun for all ages.

"If people cannot participate in the walk they can join in at the school for fellowship,'' Ms Spence said.

Gena Spence has high hopes for Saturday's walk.
