The netted olive sea shell is part of a new series of Bermuda stamps.
The Bermuda Philatelic Bureau is set to release a new series of stamps depicting Bermuda's aquatic beauty on tomorrow.
Entitled “Bermuda Shells”, six stamps ranging from five cents to eight dollars values, are shells from a collection owned by Bermudian conchologist Jack Lightbourn.
Among the shells featured, the collection will include the netted olive, which is known for its cylindrical, squat shape.
They are found on sand flats in depths up to 30 metres deep. The featured stamps were photographed between 1936 and 1986.
This collection is the first of a three-part series, with the second and third installments due for release early next spring.
