Bermuda-based insurer Allied World Assurance Company Holdings Ltd. has launched two new sub-brands in the US, Allied World Brokerage and Allied World Specialty.

The move reflects a strategy aimed at deeper penetration of the US market. Allied also announced changes to its US executives.

Gordon Knight, who joined the firm in January after 26 years at AIG in senior management roles, is president of insurance operations within the US.

John McElroy is president of the Brokerage Division, and will manage the US branch network with specific focus on offering products to retail agents and brokers nationwide.

Todd Germano is president of the Specialty Division, and will focus on programmes, industry verticals and products exclusive to wholesale distribution.

Dick Jodoin is vice-chairman of Allied World's US insurance subsidiaries, and will also retain the title of president of Newmarket Administrative Services, Inc. He will be responsible for all of the US insurance companies' operational departments.
