Aspiring engineer awarded two scholarships
The McGill Bermuda Scholarship Trust has awarded its 2026 bursary to a student of mechanical engineering.
A statement said that the recipient, Alyssa Mnushkin, began her studies at McGill University in Montreal this year after graduating from the Bermuda High School for Girls.
Ms Mnushkin, who dreams of a career in aerospace engineering, completed internships at Belco and the island’s Nasa station before leaving for McGill, which awarded her the Richard Karper Scholarship in Engineering.
The award is made based on academic merit to undergraduate students entering the Faculty of Engineering.
Ms Mnushkin’s technical interests extend to sound engineering,” the statement said.
It added: “She rose from the head of mics to head of sound for BHS productions, and also volunteered as a mics assistant for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society.
“She has also been recognised as a generous and committed tutor of Stem subjects within the BHS community and has supported numerous peers through their studies.”
Ms Mnushkin completed her IB diploma at BHS and studied physics, mathematics and chemistry at a higher level.
