No cause `for concern' over bullet shell By Carol Parker Trott News Editor A bullet shell found at Port Royal Primary School was believed to have come from an illegal weapon.

But principal Marguerite Fields yesterday told The Royal Gazette she did not believe the incident was cause for concern.

A male student found the shell near the trash dumpster at the school on St.

Anne's Road in Southampton last Tuesday morning.

"The shell was probably something that was brought in with the garbage from the community who tend to use our dumpster,'' Mrs. Fields said.

"They dispose of so many things and these shells were among the content.

"They (members of the public) tend to frequent school sites. It is an ongoing school problem because schools are not fenced in and they're not locked up so that people can use the facilities, like the field.

"We definitely don't have any control over it. These things tend to happen after school hours.'' Mrs. Fields added that it was the first time that such an object had been found at the school.

"Police now have the shell,'' she said. "I'm not sure what their intention is. Very little was revealed to me.'' However, Mrs. Field noted that an officer in the REACH (Resistance Education & Community Help Scheme) liaison scheme indicated that the shell was from an illegal weapon.

"But he could not comment further,'' she said, reiterating that she did not believe there was a cause for concern.

"I don't feel that way or did not sense that Police felt that there was a need for alarm,'' Mrs. Fields said.

`BOMBS' THROWN AT LODGE CRM `Bombs' thrown at lodge Detectives are investigating two Molotov cocktail firebomb attacks.

Three bombs was thrown at the Masonic Lodge on Khyber Pass, Warwick, some time before 5.15 p.m. on Wednesday.

The attack came less than 36 hours after a similar firebomb was hurled at Warwick Police station.

A Police spokeswoman said investigating officers were working on the theory both incidents could be linked.

"We are investigating that possibility,'' she said. "There's certainly a chance they could be linked and we are continuing to make inquiries.'' Police are also trying to establish if the same gang may be responsible for the Molotov attacks.

A Masonic Lodge member told Police he saw the three Molotovs inside the main hall when he arrived on Wednesday evening.

One of the windows had already been broken, so the bombs could be thrown in.

But none of the cocktails blew up. They burnt out, singing the curtains and causing only minor damage to the floor.

The firebomb thrown at the Middle Road Police station also failed to explode, causing just a small burn to a chair.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call Somerset CID on 234-1010.
