And after claiming he was the victim of an attack, Fowler found himself accused of offensive behaviour and being fined $200 in Magistrates' Court.

Fowler, 20, a truck driver of Cottage Hill Road, Hamilton Parish, was found by Police outside the Francis Patton School just before midnight on September 11.

Prosecuting, Sgt Rex Osborne said: "He was very agitated, almost hysterical.

He claimed he had been assaulted. He said he was a devil worshipper and he was going to kill people including his friend who had assaulted him.

"He said that his friend had assaulted him and ejected him from a party.

Police went to interview the friend and told the defendant to stay away.

"But while they were outside the friend's residence the defendant turned up and drew devil worship signs on the road. He was taken into custody for his own safe keeping and of others in the vicinity.'' Fowler said he had been helping to pick up beer bottles at the end of the party but then he and his friend had some more "brew.'' Then his friend's mother told him to leave. He said: "I left and then returned for my Walkman, but my friend just started to punch me. I asked the Police to put me in custody for my own safety.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "You had just had too much to drink. Your behaviour was offensive.''
