If I?m fit, I?m coming to play for Bermuda
If the physio is right and I am back in four weeks, I would love nothing more than to come and play for Bermuda in the Digicel Cup down in St. Vincent.
The timeframe could work out exactly for me, I should be back in full training by then and ready to play.
I wouldn?t want to come unless I have a reserve game already under my belt but it could be perfect for rehabilitation to play three games in six days for Bermuda in this competition ? it would be an honour to represent my country again.
We will have to see how my calf progresses but it would be great to play for Kyle (Lightbourne) in this tournament.
It is now eight days since I picked up the injury and it feels like the four-week assessment is about right.
This last week I have just been working on really basic things like pointing my toes and when that became pain free, I moved on to standing on my toes.
You have to work slowly with an injury like this and I am moving on to doing some toe raises with light weights.
The aim is to be up to light jogging by early next week and taking it from there.
I am still feeling it when my knee is bent so I have been doing everything with straight legs.
It is quite frustrating when you are on your own in the gym working on this kind of thing and it does go through your mind ?why me??, ?why now??.
But it helps that there is such a good mood around the club at the moment because we are doing so well in the league.
When the lads come back in from training everyone is upbeat and it puts a smile on your face to hear all the banter and all the laughter.
The better the club is doing, the better the mood and it helps me to be around the lads when they are in such good spirits.
I am frustrated but I have to think to myself that I was patient when I was waiting for my chance in the team, so I just need to stay patient now while I wait to recover and then it is a case of starting again and trying to work my way back into the side.
And it?s very different at Reading to what it was at City.
Back there, if I was injured I would probably have got sent about 100 letters by now with fans wishing me well but it is not like that here.
When I bump into people they do wish me a speedy recovery but it could never be like it was at City.
It is just a case of biding my time doing the necessary rehab work and hoping that the calf progresses as it should and then getting back into action. I will probably have to ease myself back with a reserve game before I could even be considered for another place in the first team where again it will be a case of waiting for my chance either through injury or loss of form.
I am doing my best to stay focused and in good spirits and it is a case of wait and see.
