Library to library walk promotes reading

The importance of having a healthy body ? and a healthy mind ? was raised in a fund-raising walk bookended by two Hamilton libraries.

Twenty-five people put their best feet forward for the first Teen Advisory Board Family Fun 5km Walk, on a route starting at the Youth Library on Church Street and ending at the Queen Street Adult Library.

The walk, held at the end of Teen Reading Week, aimed to promote the value of healthy eating and expanding the mind through reading.

Marla Smith, youth services librarian, said the plan was to make the walk an annual fixture in the calendar. ?Everyone was keen about it happening again next year,? she said. ?We are now looking forward to it being bigger and better.?

Funds raised will help the Sunshine League buy books and materials.
