Michael Kane kicked two long-distance penalties in reply for Police.

Teachers managed four tries in a one-sided encounter against Mariners, with Michael Barthuizen, Warren Clifford, Chris Naylor and Alvin Harvey touching down.

Mariners had taken the lead through a Richard Brown penalty, but Harry Andrews made it 3-3 with a penalty of his own to open the floodgates for Teachers, who are now level on points with Police.

• Renegades beat Police 8-1 in ladies rugby, with Amy Harvey running in four tries for the 'Gades and Sue Rebello three, while Melissa Field grabbed the other score. Julia Mansfield scored Police's lone try.

The second match was even more one-sided, with Teachers Dragons winning 8-0 against Mariners, led by Katie Wright, who scored a remarkable six tries. The other two scores came from Chernelle Gibbons and Kristie Koza.
