Two taxi drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving over the weekend.

In the first incident, Police stopped the driver, a 41-year-old Devonshire man, at the junction of South Road and Lovers Lane, Paget, at 11 p.m. on Saturday. They noticed he appeared to be intoxicated and took him to Hamilton Police Station where they say he refused to take the alco-analyser test.

At 1 a.m. yesterday, Police saw a taxi being driven erratically east along Middle Road, Southampton. They stopped the vehicle and said the driver, a 53-year-old Sandys man, showed signs of being under the influence.

Officers took him to Hamilton Police Station where he was detained after failing the alco-analyser test.

Biker in hospital after collision

A 19-year-old Paget man suffered leg injuries after an accident at the junction of Ord Road and Harvey Road.

According to a Police spokesman, the man was riding a motorcycle just before 8.40 a.m. on Thursday when he collided with a car.

The spokesman said: "It appears that the car was travelling east on Ord Road in Paget and the motorcycle was travelling in the opposite direction when they collided."

The motorcyclist was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for injuries to his right hip and left knee, but the driver of the car, a 35-year-old Sandys woman, was not injured.
