Blake and Eddie Marshall stamped their names in the Mid Ocean Club history books with exciting victories yesterday in the respective junior and senior championship flight finals of the annual Men?s Invitation tournament.

Blake ? no relation to Eddie ? secured his fourth consecutive junior division title when he holed a tricky five-foot downhill putt on the 18th to beat fellow club member Mike Foulger one-up.

After just eight holes Blake was three-under par, five up and looking to run away with the crown.

But his opponent had other ideas, fighting his way back with wins at nine and ten and again at the 14th after losing the 13th.

That left Foulger three down with four to play. Both players would par the 15th and then Foulger snatched 16 with a par and 17 with a superb birdie to take the match to the final hole.

On the 18th Foulger needed a 10-foot putt for birdie to force extra holes. But he would narrowly miss, and Marshall made his putt to secure the win.

In the Seniors Division, Eddie Marshall was two-up early in his match and held on with steady play right up to the 16th hole where he missed a two-footer to give his Baltimore opponent, Ray Daue, a glimmer of hope.

But that hope was dashed at the very next hole as Marshall made a clutch birdie to clinch his first Men?s Invitation title, on the heels of his club championship victory earlier this year.
