Second Division round-up
Philip Clarke netted twice to take his tally for the season to nine as Devonshire Cougars strengthened their grip on the Second Division with this win at Police Field.
Unbeaten Cougars wasted little time in taking the lead, as bad defending allowed them to strike twice in the first seven minutes. Clarke broke the deadlock in the third minute following a cross from the left which he knocked down before slotting past the 'keeper.
Sergio Griffin intercepted a back pass to make it 2-0 in the seventh minute but Prospect continued to battle and pulled one back before the break through John Richmond in the 40th minute.
Prospect tied it up in the second half but Cougars stepped up another gear to make it 3-2 within five minutes when Clark scored his second following a cross from the right from Brian Anderson which he headed down and then ran on to to flick past the 'keeper.
Wali Salaam closed out the scoring when Clarke laid on a pass to him from the right. Salaam beat two defenders before scoring.
Wolves 5 Paget 0 Former division leaders Wolves bounced back from a winless month of November to record their biggest win of the season at Devonshire Rec. to stay a point behind Cougars at the top.
It took Wolves a half hour to take the lead when Rio Peniston scored the first of his two goals. Anthony Thomas netted in the 42nd minute to make it 2-0 at the half and Wolves turned on the steam in the second half to score three more and send bottom team Paget crashing to another defeat.
Peniston made it 3-0 in the 64th minute before substitute Omar Allen made it 4-0 in the 79th minute, a minute after entering the game. Vince Minors closed out the scoring a minute from the end.
St. David's 2 Ham Parish 0 St. David's moved from third from bottom to third from top after Hamilton Parish, BAA and Prospect ahead of them all lost.
The Islanders' home win was secured by goals from Rudell Pitcher in the 32nd minute and Sergio Goater in the 39th, with the win moving them three points behind second-placed Wolves who play Cougars in a make-up match on Thursday.
BAA 0 Social Club 4 Social Club moved a couple of places up the standings with this convincing win over BAA. Shawn Laws netted twice with Anthony Fubler and Rembert Hill completing the scoring.
