Video goes viral

A video featuring footage of the Island by Bermuda Aerial Media has gone viral across social media sites, collecting thousands of ‘likes’ on Facebook.

The footage, a collage of the work the drone-flying photographers have conducted since launching last year, gives a bird’s-eye view of life in Bermuda from sporting and cultural events, to houses, the environment, and more.

Company founder Connor Burns said demand for his drone’s services have only grown, and hinted that the footage contained in their 2014 show reel may just be the beginning.

“We started up mid last summer with the Island Games and we’ve just been putting together our footage from hotels, real estate, some of the more fun stuff like ferries and that type of thing, and finally put a show reel together to show Bermuda exactly what we’ve been doing,” said Mr Burns.

Since the company’s launch last summer, Mr Burns said he’s “been seeing a bit of growth” and has expanded his team in order to accommodate the various services a drone can provide, including professional photography, video, 3D photogrammetry, and surveying.

“A lot of people are recognising that this type of product can do a lot for their marketing and advertising, and it’s different from what the normal advertising situation is.

“Sometimes when we’re on site, like last Saturday during the Tarrus Riley concert, we’re there and we’ve got a ground point of view. ‘We can see what’s going on and what everybody else sees, but when the camera comes back down from being up so high it is stunning, and it’s not what we expect. It’s definitely a cool perspective.”
