Manipulated and deceived
November 12, 2008
Dear Sir,
With all the distractions and diffusions of our Government we are unable to keep our focus on the issues of the day, facing our little island.
Why do we get the feeling (we, the people) are being pulled from one direction to another and then end up with the same results?
We refer to the Medical Clinic that was disbanded by our Premier last year and then he talked about extending this service to the professional medical fraternity outside of the hospital. So! What went wrong?
Perhaps we will never know! But what we do know is the system was working well until the Government stepped in.
And so now we have an about turn with Minister Butler jumping in to save the day and offering transportation that existed before at very little cost.
What does it take to stir residents into realising that they are being manipulated and deceived?
Could be that they are afraid to speak up? Power causes people to withdraw and say little. As Michiavelli said: "It is better to be feared than loved."
And we know little love is lost within the present government.

Litter bug in car
November 12, 2008
Dear Sir,
Driving down Reid Street about 6.45 p.m. today, we noticed a white BMW double parked outside Chopsticks – a fairly usual selfish occurrence despite spaces being available. It moved off and stopped at the red light. The passenger window came down and two pieces of paper trash were thrown into the street.
This Island is starting to sink in garbage and I can understand why ... why would anyone do that. Perhaps that person could tell us ... if we threw garbage into their car would they not mind ...
